This Java 5 applet demonstrates how Fourier series can approximate waves (periodic functions). Increase n terms for better arrpoximation. The display shows four periods of the wave as well as the expression for the approximation. Several waves are preprogrammed and arbitrary waves made of straight segments can be entered. For arbitrary waves, click to add points, drag to move points, and drag points over their neighbor to delete points.
